About Us

About Us

Gulabi Zameen: The Pink Earth Initiative aims to create a space alongside queer and trans individuals and communities and explore the intersection of climate and gender and its impact on non binary mental and physical health. We collaborate with communities, youth activists, collectives and NGOs in different cities to understand on-ground distinct lived realities to help us create a free open source database for a shared learning experience, for us and you.

Our Mission

We aim to create a Community-led Gender Impact Assessment Toolkit. The toolkit will serve as an inclusive and intersectional resource that challenges the prevailing heteronormative narratives within climate justice frameworks. The focus will be on addressing the data gaps and documenting the impacts of climate change on lives of transgender, queer and gender-diverse people. This includes varied impacts on physical and mental health, community care spaces and livelihoods in vulnerable ecological areas. We aim to create a platform to share climate-related concerns and resilience practices.

Community Engagement

We aim to understand the issues faced by the community in geographically and culturally diverse regions (like coasts, mountainous terrains, and urban city plains) which have nuanced contexts. We centre community experiences through our collaborative research and learning exchanges. All the outcomes and resources produced in our engagement are made accessible and open source for all. We hope to promote an overall inclusive and supportive functioning within environmental, climate activist, and civic spaces through our work with trauma informed practices.

Zameen Gulabi hai

By Gulabi Zameen Collective

Zameen Gulabi hi hai, Humne Bas neeche Dekha nahi

The earth remained pink, the flowers darkened

It was not the ground that you walked, it was the eyes you trusted

Shaheedo ke khoon se banni hai tumhare juuto ke niche ki zameen

Unke laal lahu se banni hai gulabi ye zameen

More blood is yet to flow, more sacrifices yet to make

Sacrifice of power, sacrifice of thought,

Sacrifice of yourself for the newborn of the new age

Zameen Gulabi hi hai, Humne Bas neeche Dekha nahi

“Poetry is where climate grief meets queer resilience, where our bodies and the earth speak the same language.”
— Gulabi Zameen Collective
